Ready!

Ready!

I'm not that great about accepting help from others. Maybe I'm too scared of being rejected to ask. Or maybe I'm just stubbornly independent.

After my last blog post I realized that I was really worried about getting everything set up for my solo show in time.  Luckily I received a very generous offer of help from a friend. And, even more luckily, I said yes - help me! I absolutely didn't trust myself to hang things in a straight manner (I'm more of an eyeballer than a measurer) so my friend and my husband hung the framed pieces. And a fine job they did too:

It wasn't just all the help with the carrying and the grunt work (like taping cords to the floor) - which I also appreciate! - that made such a difference to the day; it was the support and calmness of the people with me and the people at the gallery that really made everything go smoothly. I am truly grateful for the generosity, the assistance, and the good advice - (that will look better over there, turn that the other way...) that I received.

When I got home I felt lighter than I had in months.

I'll think about what comes next to think about another day. For now I'm just going to enjoy having completed the task of getting ready!

Here are some pictures from the day:
