Keys 651 - 652 Reflections of a Mind State

Key 651 ended with a not so nice finish on the other side - it was a bit drippy (more like my earlier keys) and also had a few rough spots. I could have sanded and re-resined the key to smooth it out but I didn't. This past week had its own personal rough patches so I am leaving Key 651 as a marker of this time: a reminder that sometimes it's best to just move on. Upon reflection I also see that Key 651 is bold and strong with a big heart on the end that sparkles with treasure. Perhaps I should be looking at the overall impression of this key (and my own past week) and not focus on the flaws (the roughest ones don't even show up in the photos). Key 651 one side

Key 652 has a Celtic coin/charm/round piece that I found when I was cleaning up the leftovers from my son's move to Montreal. I'm not sure where he got it from (it might have been me). There's a figure and and some Celtic knots on the one side that look like a tree of life and this lovely sentiment on the other: May the road always lead where you need to be. I wanted to be able to see both sides of this "coin" on the finished key I placed it between two thick washers. I was happy with how this looked; the only challenge was that none of the usual objects I use for key "shafts" would work and keep the washer/coin combo looking good. I had two bracelets handy and bent them up - they fit well and I think the key worked out.

I like the way the bottom of this key looks like clouds, and also the way the piece sparkles when looked at from the side, but mostly I like being reminded of my son and the sentiment of ending up where I need to be.
