Key 1941: Time Exchange
Over a decade ago I was in a different office with a different job with different coworkers then I have now. One hot day I sat in the board room with two of my most excellent colleagues and we drank a bottle of sparkling green elderflower beverage. The day was so pleasant and my coworkers so sparkly in their own right that I’ve kept that bottle as a gentle reminder of the peace and joy found in the good company of others.
Now one of those coworkers is living in Berlin and creating a small art exchange project to counteract the often impersonal and vague audience world of online posts. I was happy to take part in this physical reality project and set about to make a postcard-sized image of a key…
I had many stellar colleagues in that previous job, one of whom became a certified Zentangle instructor. She made me some lovely tangles that I, of course, brought from the office office to my now home office when the world here altered course last month.
If you haven’t heard of Zentangle it’s a very relaxing process that anyone who can hold a pen can do. https://zentangle.com/
For Key 1941 I thought about creating a Zentangle key. I even sort of attempted it. But as fun as Zentangle is I just couldn’t follow any patterns. Maybe it’s because every day another beloved arts festival gets cancelled or maybe it’s because I just get bored easily and need to buck against the rules of my bureaucratic day job somewhere.
