Keys 2597 - 2603 Making Keys Big and Small
Well I’m back making keys and I’ve even managed to make it past another mini-milestone (2600 hurray! - finally feel like I’m making some progress). Many of these keys are bigger then what I usually make and some are downright large. And two are rather small. Have a look:
Both of the end bits were found by my husband on his morning walk for a coffee - the circle on the top is amazing ight and the bit on the bottom that I covered with rhinestones is amazingly squished. The main metal piece is from a display system that I scavenged from the office trash bin.
Parts of this key are from an owl necklace (courtesy Value Village) that I dismantled - the white iridescent sphere on the top is from the body (you can see the “feathers” on the other side) and one of the bottom bits are the tail feathers. The main shaft is from a very squished bracelet my husband brought me (I’m guessing it was on the road and not the sidewalk because it was very beat up). The very bottom is an old handmade nail and the prongs on the end are from an earring.
The top of this key is from an old Singer sewing machine (the bit on the other side is the guide) and the main shaft is a piece of brass that I no longer remember where it came from. The buckles I rescued from sandals that served me for a decade or two before they gave up and came apart.
Those are some big keys!
Another nice piece from a Singer sewing machine on this one. The metal bit that’s not quite at the end I picked up last month while walking in downtown St. John’s. I’m not sure what machines the other metal bits are from - possibly more sewing machine bits and possible that old adding machine.
I’m pretty sure my husband also dragged home this plate (for a door handle I think) that I covered on one side with bits of stuff I bought last year. The black metal shaft is from yet another easel rescued from the office trash. Most of the jewelry on this piece comes from my recent Value Village trip.
A little key made from road bits (the silver metal shape at the top) and jewelry bits from my collection of supplies.
More bits from my supplies made up this rather delicate key.
